- With sentences like "The town received good news as regards current litigation this past Tuesday night . . ." the West Hartford News continues to be in the throes of a terrible bout with unprofessionalism. Here's another example:"It was perhaps the most discussed resolution by the Town Council, but once it passed by a 7-2 vote, the standing rules of the town council for the 2007-2009 term were revised."And another:"A person who owned a median-size home could expect a rise of approximately $400 for the taxpayer in annual taxes with that proposed increase."
- It seems the mysterious "Mexican Restaurant" moving into the old BK space on Park Road (I wrote about it back in February) is actually a tavern:
And, judging by the sign, it also appears that this tavern is owned by the Berenstain Bears:

I don't think they're "moving into"... I have a hunch they've already MOVED IN and are currently open for business. That cheap signage is simply part of their "decor".
Read the liquor permit on the door. It's going to be called Taqueria Tavern. It's clearly not open, and that sign is not part of their "decor". That sign is from the previous tenants. And your Berenstein Bears attempt of being cute, really isn't that cute. Get a job.
I came back to complain again about the badness of the West Hartford News only to find that you were again complaining about the badness of the West Hartford News.
It's bad, isn't it?
Wow, Anonymous 1, you seem to have confused a comment with the post--chill out! All Trailing Spouse said was that there was a new sign, and it's in the same style as the Berenstain Bears' sign. That's it. And s.i.d. just isn't a skilled joke-maker.
Jeez, Anonymous #1, I'm pretty sure s.i.d. was just trying to make a joke (granted, a bad one, but a joke, nonetheless). And I'm sorry if the Berenstain Bears aren't up to snuff in the humor department. Guess I struck out there for you.
(But if you're going to comment on the Bears, at least give them the courtesy of spelling their name correctly. They may be illustrated bears, but they have feelings, too.)
Seriously, though, I know the soon-to-be restaurant isn't actually called "Mexican Restaurant." I just like the makeshift sign using the old sign already in place. I've already written in a previous post that I'm looking forward to its opening. I hope the place is good. Any storefront that isn't empty is a good thing.
Well, best wishes, Anonymous #1. I have to assume you're somehow involved in the Taqueria Tavern. Either that or you really like to leave comments about trivial Berenstain Bears mentions on blogs. When you do open and I stop in, please don't poison my food.
what about that odd little mexican restaurant on Park (opposite side of the street from Berenstain Bear place)? Anyone know if it's any good? It's located in the turn-over-weekly deli corner store.
You mean the one on the corner of Park and Oakwood Ave? I heard it's good!
And--
The star reporter for the West Hartford News has six articles in the current issue. Six!
The place you're talking about is Los Adobes. I've been there twice. The food is decent, though I was a little underwhelmed the first time I was there (it was right when they opened). If you're into traditional Mexican, it's the place to try.
Amy over at the Grater Hartford Real Estate blog liked them quite a bit and has a nice little write-up about them:

I hear they are trying to open for Cinco de Mayo. I actually walked in there and they are doing a beautiful job. The permittee and one of the partners is a childhood friend of mine who has lived in W.H. whole life so I expect nothing but the best from him!
neighbor of the tavern
Cool. Nice to hear. I hope it turns out well.
